Visiting Grandma

A grandmother is giving directions to her grown grandson, who is coming to visit with his wife:

"You come to the front door of the apartment complex. I am in apartment 14T. There is a big panel at the door. With your elbow, push button 14T. I will buzz you in. Come inside, the elevator is on the right. Get in, and with your elbow hit 14. When you get out I am on the left. With your elbow, hit my doorbell."

"Grandma, that sounds easy, but why am I hitting all these buttons with my elbow?"

"You're coming empty handed?"

おばあちゃんを訪ねる時は

おばあちゃんが、すっかり大人になった孫に道順の説明をしている。孫は、妻と一緒におばあちゃん宅を訪ねてくるのだ。

「アパートの玄関までおいで。わたしは１４Ｔ号室だからね。扉に大きなパネルが付いてるから、肘で１４Ｔってボタンを押すんだよ。そしたら扉が開くから中へお入り。エレベーターは右側にあるからね。それに乗ったら、肘で１４を押すの。着いて降りたら、私の部屋は左側。肘でドアの呼び鈴を押しなさい」

「おばあちゃん、よくわかったよ。でもなんで、ボタンや呼び鈴を押すのが全部肘なわけ？」

「おまえ、手ぶらで来る気なのかい？」
