A man was speeding down the highway, feeling secure in a gaggle of cars all traveling at the same speed. However, as they passed a speed trap, he got nailed with an infrared speed detector and was pulled over.

The officer handed him the citation, received his signature and was about to walk away when the man asked, "Officer, I know I was speeding, but I don't think it's fair - there were plenty of other cars around me who were going just as fast, so why did *I* get the ticket?"

"Ever go fishing?" the policeman suddenly asked the man.

"Ummm, yeah..." the startled man replied.

The officer grinned and added, "Ever catch *all* the fish?

スピード取締り

男は大道りを高速で突っ走っていた。他の車も同じ速度で突っ走っているから大丈夫だと思っていた。しかし、スピード違反監視区間を通過したとき、男は赤外線速度探知器にひっかかり、車を寄させられた。

巡査が男に違反切符を手渡し、署名をさせて立ち去ろうとすると、男が訊いた。「おまわりさん、オレがスピードを出していたのは認めるよ。けどよ、不公平だろっつーの。同じスピードで走ってた車は、周りにたくさんあったっしょ。何でオレだけ切符きられなきゃなんねーの?」

「釣りをしたことはあるか?」巡査が不意にきいた。

「う〜ん、はあ・・・」男はどぎまぎして答えた。

巡査はにやりと笑ってこう言った。「泳いでる魚をぜんぶ釣ったことはあるかね?」
